Anelson

In 2011, one of the teachers at IBC told us that her sister was a nurse at a hospital in Port au Prince. She told us there was a woman in the hospital who wasn’t expected to live, and that she had a baby boy that the nurses were trying to care for. They asked if we could take care of the baby. There was no other family that could help and the father wasn’t listed on the birth certificate.

After we met with the mother and the hospital staff, the mother decided to give us custody. She said she wanted him back when he turned 18, though. Unfortunately, she died not too long after we took him.

He was a very small baby with a tiny little powder puff of reddish hair on top of his head, a sure sign of malnutrition. He gained strength quickly, though, and became a very energetic little boy. We are so thankful for this young man. He has grown so much.
