This year, our Mama Bonnie Valentine Offering will focus on reviving our two schools. Our two schools are such a vital part of our ministry, providing a Christian education to children in Haiti. As we've mentioned before, being able to attend school in Haiti is such a privilege and can often mean life or death for some of the children we serve. Without an education, many children end up in trouble that otherwise could have been prevented. It also helps provide a pathway for them to make a livelihood one day. On top of that, our schools provide a daily hot meal, which for many, could be their only meal that day. It is a true lifeline for many students!
Unfortunately, because of the heavy gang presence in the areas that our two schools are located, we have been unable to keep them open. It is just too dangerous for our teachers and students to travel there, and it's not a risk we are willing to take. That being said, after much prayer and consideration by our Haitian staff, as well as meetings with parents in Haiti who are on board, we are relocating our two schools to safer locations, still within traveling distance for the students of each school. Before the gang violence in the area ramped up, we were easily serving over 700 students between both schools. Over the last couple years, that number has dwindled significantly. While we will be starting small, we are praying that the Lord will use these schools to reach many more as we get settled in these new areas.
As you can imagine, there will be some upfront costs to get these two schools set up in a new location and operating effectively. Funds raised from this campaign will go toward reviving our schools, as well as paying our teachers for the remainder of the year. Please consider making a donation of any amount in memory of "Mama Bonnie" who knew how vital an education was for the children she served.

For those who may be newer to our ministry, this annual campaign was set up several years ago in memory of Bonnie Snider who served as a missionary in Haiti for many years, alongside her husband and our Executive Director, Mike Snider. She was affectionately called "Mama Bonnie" by all the children in our home. She was known for her nurturing spirit, her kindness, and her generosity to the children she cared for. Her legacy lives on, and we seek to continue to honor her memory and great sacrifice each February by raising funds to continue the ministry she was so passionate about.
